Jamarcus Styles, 22, of Atlanta, Georgia, was arrested on Tuesday, Aug. 13, after Monroe Police received calls from residents on Lazy Brook Road, said Monroe Police Lt. Stephen Corrone.
The first call came in around 5:25 p.m. from a resident reporting that Styles was acting aggressively.
While checking the area for the salesmen, officers were stopped by a second resident informing them they had a salesman that caused a disturbance at their residence, Corrone said.
Officers located Styles on Spinning Wheel Road, but when they attempted to speak with him, he refused to follow directions and began to scream profanities in front of several citizens in the area, Corrone said.
A background check uncovered that Styles was wanted on two non-extraditable warrants from Minnesota and New Mexico for similar charges. He also did not have a peddler's license.
Styles was charged breach of peace and peddling without a license. He is being held on $500 bond.
"The Monroe Police Department would like to remind residents that the Monroe Police Department issues town of Monroe photo identifications for all approved solicitors," Corrone said. "These identifications should be on the solicitors at all times when working in the town of Monroe."
If the solicitors do not have the proper issued identification, please contact the police department routine line at (203) 261-3622.
